Feast Your Eyes On Otavalo & Puerto Lago

Once we were back and settled, and school was finishing up, we were ready for a little exploring. We hadn't been to the market in Otavalo since we first arrived last summer. So we packed the kids up for a little drive north of Quito. The market in Otavalo is really a feast for the eyes. They sell just about everything there. We had trouble finding the main artisanal market and ended up first in the market where you can buy meats, produce, etc. We slowly made our way to the main market to explore for a while before heading on to lunch at Hacienda Puerto Lago. The hacienda is located right on a lake called Lago San Pablo and overlooking the lake is Volcan Imbambura. It was a great day and just a nice break from the city-life of Quito.

Yes, those are cabbages!

Along the roadside here in Ecuador, they have many of these little shrines. It's refreshing to live in a country where it is ok to be open about your faith:)
