It's the end of the school year and while we look forward to restful and lazy summer days, the weeks leading up to the "official" end of the year are busy, busy, busy!
In Shay's class, they had to prepare a cultural presentation on their country. They had to share a little bit about where they were born, where they've lived, and a small snack typical of their country. This was a neat project for the kids because in Shay's class, there were kids from the US, Ecuador, Brazil, Columbia, Argentina, Mexico, & Palestine. They learned a little about the culture of these countries, and got to try different foods. Daddy made a photo book of all the places in the US that Shay has lived. We made mini-apple pies, and we made a lei for him to wear representing the state in which he was born.
During the months of May & June, here in Quito they celebrate Dia de Los Ninos, as well as Dias de los Madres & Padres. At the kids' schools, they had special celebrations in which the parents were able to participate...
Sadly, at the end of June, we had to say goodbye to our Kindergartener...
...but "Hello" to our First Grader!!
Malia had to say goodbye to some of her friends who will be moving on to Kinder, but she is looking forward to making many new friends in her Pre-K 4 class!
Phew! And now we can rest...maybe!
